Hiring 250,000 employees for the summer posed a creative challenge for McDonald’s. In order to target 16- to 24-year-olds, McDonald’s got imaginative and developed the “Snaplication.”
In McDonald’s Snaplication, Snapchat users view a 10-second ad about the perks of working at McDonald’s, and if the user wants to learn more about the job, there’s a link to McDonald’s career page and job application. The corporation also developed a filter that allows users to digitally try on the McDonald’s uniform.“Showing up as someone who knows how students spend time on social media is smart of [McDonald’s],” noted Susan Hay in USA Today. Susan is the founder of career coaching firm Launching U.
The unique application is more intriguing to teens and young adults because they can fill out the application directly on their phones, rather than having to fill one out in person.
With mobile phones being at the center of most young people’s lives, McDonald’s has taken an inventive step in hiring a quarter of a million employees for the summer.
