Our PR agency started preparing for COVID-19 pandemic 15 years ago
By Axia Public RelationsMarch 26, 2020
While we didn't expect COVID-19, we knew we should be preparing for any emergency or disaster
Axia Public Relations was an early adopter of cloud technologies in 2004.
In 2007, we created disaster recovery systems to give our colleagues across North America remote access to our agency servers. In 2009, we transitioned to 100% cloud, with data servers redundantly hosted at multiple geographic secure locations.
In October 2014, we encouraged our team to work from home as many as three days per week, depending on their role and location.
It was so successful that we expanded it to allow remote working 4-5 days per week. This helps encourage employee wellness, work-life balance, and retention of our creative class talent. (It's also cheaper for our team.) It helps us attract the best PR talent in the world and it allowed us to enjoy 63 months with zero employee turnover.
To that end, with the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re encouraging more video meetings and avoiding in-person meetings for the remainder of the month.
This proactive preparation for natural disasters and health issues allows us to be laser-focused on caring for the needs of our employees and clients instead of wasting time reacting to an unexpected situation like the coronavirus outbreak.
So, all things considered, it’s mostly business as usual for us. If we can help guide your company during this transition or provide crisis PR services for other situations, just let us know.
