Always continue learning.

Set a monthly goal that will further your knowledge. For example, an attainable goal would be, “This month, I’ll read two books written by PR professionals.” Setting goals will push you to better yourself and increase your chances for success.

If you do it at least once a week, there should be a process set in place.

Explaining how you did something can be a bother and often slows productivity. If you find that your company often repeats the same tasks, create processes for current and new employees so that everyone is on the same page. This allows for work to remain consistent and provides employees with a how-to guide so they don’t disrupt fellow coworkers’ productivity.

End your day by making a note of what you need to do tomorrow.

Nothing makes a Monday worse than not knowing where you left off Friday and having to spend time sifting through emails and documents trying to remember. Write yourself a note every day before you leave the office with your daily 3-5 “must-do’s” for your next workday. This keeps you on track, organized, and productive.

Begin the day with a PR team check-in that includes personal updates, accomplishments, goals, and setbacks (for which the team can provide support). This ensures that you start the workday off strong. It also helps keep your company’s focus on its employees and their status. Set a time limit and an agenda that works best for you and see how quickly you accomplish tasks!

Make time to apply for local and national awards to show your colleagues and other professionals what an amazing year you’ve had. Winning awards helps you gain attention from potential clients and employees.
